Attorney Cara Anthaney and Office Manager Kyle Tasch from CTM Legal Group gave informative presentations to funeral directors and embalmers participating in their continuing education seminar on December 2, 2015. The presentations were part of a daylong event that took place at the Teamsters' office in Park Ridge, Illinois. Both Anthaney and Tasch were invited to speak because of their expertise on certain issues in which funeral workers are regularly involved.
Attorney Cara Anthaney delivered her hour-long presentation on debt collection in the funeral industry. Anthaney has a great deal of experience in the area, and she was able to draw on her professional background while explaining policies and laws involved in debt collection to the audience of over 50 funeral directors. Anthaney began her career working as a collections and commercial litigation attorney. She believes "it is important for funeral directors and other service providers to educate themselves on the law and strong payment policies to protect their businesses and financial welfare."
Office Manager Kyle Tasch gave his presentation on “Technology and Funeral Directing.” He focused on online marketing during his one-hour presentation. The attendees learned how funeral directors and funeral homes could utilize social media and internet-based skills to help their businesses grow. Tasch has professional experience with the subject matter. He has spent nearly a decade working freelance and professionally in online marketing, web design, social media, and media production. “Just learning the basics can be a solid foundation for creating an online marketing program to greatly enhance your business,” Tasch said.
Together, Tasch and Anthaney presented their information using slideshows, media, and question-and-answer sections. Many funeral directors and embalmers found the material from the presentations to be quite useful, and many will be using the information presented in their daily work life. Teamsters Local 727 holds two of these seminars every year. The Illinois Division of Professional Regulation (IDPR) has recognized Local 727 as an approved continuing education sponsor for over 15 years.
