CHICAGO, Ill. — After a two-year legal battle filled with procedural delays, CTM Legal Group has garnished $8,000 directly from a contractor's bank account for a client who was the victim of consumer fraud by a home repair contractor.

The client had paid thousands to the contractor, who then failed to properly finish the work as agreed upon. CTM filed suit for consumer fraud, ultimately obtaining a judgment, but collecting on it proved an arduous process.

"The contractor is taking precisely zero responsibility for its actions. As a result, obtaining compensation for our client has been a long road," said Sarah Albert, the lead CTM attorney who handled the case. "We had to overcome numerous hurdles and difficulties with the court system to capture these funds our client deserved."

Recently, CTM ultimately secured a turnover order allowing $8,000.00 of funds - the entirety of the contractor's bank account - to be seized directly from the bank for the benefit of CTM's client.

"For too long, this contractor had refused to make our client whole after taking their money and not completing the job," Albert said. "The turnover order finally begins to enforce the judgment and deliver some sort of restitution."
